(James T. McCay) Water and fuel demands increase as your running distance increases. Have about one-half cup of fluids every twenty minutes and a snack of simple carbohydrates (such as sports gels, packets of honey, and energy drinks), every 45 minutes. Avoid fiber, protein and fat because these take longer to digest and can cause stomach cramps. For recovery nutrition, don't forget that real food can be just as good as, if not better than, sports bars and powders. |
Packet Pick-Up
Packet Pick-up will be held at the GNC Live Well Pittsburgh Health and Fitness Expo during race weekend. ID is required to pick up your race packet.

11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, April 30, 2010
9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, May 1, 2010
8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday, May 2 – no packet pick up on race day!
After picking up race numbers and gift bags, registered runners will be able to sign up for pace teams, purchase the Official Nike Marathon gear in the Dick's Sporting Goods store, and chat with fellow runners. Merchants and sponsors will have give-aways and free consultations. Kids and adults will be able to participatea in a multitude of fun activities.
