The Dick's Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon winds through the wonderfully unique and historic neighborhoods of this beautiful city. Community celebrations, cheering spectators and music throughout the course will welcome runners from all over the world.

ChampionChip® Timing

All marathon events (marathon, half marathon, marathon relay) will use ChampionChip® timing chip to record final times. All runners will receive a rental chip when they pick up their race packet. Runners who own their chip must fill in the owner’s number on the registration form. All rental chips must be returned after crossing the finish line. A fee of $35 will be charged if the chip is not returned by June 15, 2009.

ELITE RUNNERS


To qualify as an Elite Runner, males need to post a sub 2:22 and females a sub 2:48 in the marathon. For more information, or for consideration as an elite runner, please contact Joe Sarver at: jsjs@comcast.net








WALKERS 

Start --- 6:30 a.m.
Walkers are welcome to participate in the Dick’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon.


Please be advised of the following: 


1) Walkers will start 1 hour before runners. There will be designated pace group signs for walkers.
 
2) Walkers must complete the course in the 7-hour time limit. Any walker who has not reached the 13-mile mark in 3.5 hours will have the option of: 
     
     a) getting on the sweep vehicle to return to The Convention Center or 
     b) or finishing the marathon course off the road and on the sidewalks. 







WHEELCHAIR DIVISION

The Dick’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon welcomes athletes with disabilities.


We have two divisions for the wheelchair race:

1) Open (Rim)      2) Hand Crank

AWARDS

The Dick’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon will have a prize purse of $9,500 in the following categories:


Cash prizes awarded to the top three (8) overall male and female finishers:


Overall

1st - $4,000    2nd - $2,500    3rd - $1,500    4th - $1,000    5th - $500



Master’s:


1st - $750   2nd - $500    3rd - $300



Pennsylvania Resident:
 


1st - $750     2nd - $500     3rd - $250



Wheelchair Athletes (Rim and Hand Crank):

1st - $300 - Each Division



Philips Respironics Half Marathon:

1st - $2,500     2nd - $1,000    3rd - $500     4th - $350     5th - $250
